Free Robots.txt Generator

One of the free tools from KinetixSEO, an SEO and AI-citation (GEO) checker. Generate a robots.txt file that explicitly welcomes GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot and every other major AI crawler — with your site's real sitemap URL already filled in — instead of leaving AI-search visibility to an ambiguous wildcard rule.

What the Free Robots.txt Generator checks

  • Discovers your site's real sitemap URL via robots.txt (or the default /sitemap.xml path)
  • Builds a User-agent: * Allow: / block plus one explicit Allow block per major AI crawler (GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and others)
  • Appends a Sitemap: directive pointing at the discovered sitemap

Frequently asked questions

Why does this generator explicitly allow AI crawlers?

Most robots.txt generators only produce a generic User-agent: * block and leave every AI crawler unmentioned, which some site owners read as ambiguous rather than as permission. This tool adds an explicit Allow: / block for every major AI crawler worth naming — GPTBot, ClaudeBot, PerplexityBot, and others — so a site that wants to be citable in AI search says so unambiguously rather than relying on the wildcard rule alone.

What if I actually want to block some AI crawlers?

This tool generates a permissive baseline aimed at sites that want AI-search visibility. If you want to block specific bots (for example, training-data crawlers you don't want scraping your content), take the generated file and change the relevant block from Allow: / to Disallow: / — treat this as a starting point, not a rule you can't edit.

Where does the sitemap URL in the output come from?

It's discovered the same way search engines discover it: read from your existing robots.txt's Sitemap: directive if you have one, or falling back to the conventional /sitemap.xml path on your domain. It isn't guessed or hardcoded.

Does uploading this robots.txt override my existing rules?

Yes — robots.txt is a single file per domain, so uploading this generated version replaces whatever rules you had before. If your current robots.txt has custom Disallow rules for specific paths, merge those in manually rather than replacing the file outright.
