KinetixSEO MCP server

Connect KinetixSEO to Claude, ChatGPT, Claude Code or Cursor and work from the chat: start an SEO audit, run keyword research, write a content brief, read your backlink summary or check whether AI assistants cite your site. The assistant calls KinetixSEO for you and works with the result.

The server address, for every client:

https://kinetixseo.com/mcp/kinetix

Tools that read or spend from your account need a KinetixSEO account. You sign in once while connecting; there is no API key to copy.

Connect your assistant

Claude (claude.ai and the Claude desktop app)

  1. Open Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector.
  2. Name it KinetixSEO and paste the server address above.
  3. When Claude asks how to sign in, choose Sign in when needed. Claude may pre-select No sign-in; change it, or the account tools will not work.
  4. Click Connect, sign in to KinetixSEO and approve the connection.

Codex (OpenAI's desktop app)

  1. Open the MCP servers settings and click Add server.
  2. Choose Streamable HTTP and paste the server address. Leave the token and header fields empty.
  3. Click Authenticate, sign in to KinetixSEO and approve the connection.

Add the server yourself. When we asked ChatGPT in a chat to connect KinetixSEO, it built a plugin that never showed a sign-in button. Adding the server as above did.

In ChatGPT on the web, a custom MCP server needs developer mode. We have not tested that route yet; if you try it, the server address and sign-in are the same.

Claude Code

claude mcp add --transport http kinetixseo https://kinetixseo.com/mcp/kinetix

Then type /mcp in Claude Code, pick kinetixseo and sign in.

Cursor

Add this to ~/.cursor/mcp.json (or .cursor/mcp.json in a project), then sign in when Cursor asks:

{
  "mcpServers": {
    "kinetixseo": {
      "url": "https://kinetixseo.com/mcp/kinetix"
    }
  }
}

Other clients: an API key

A client that cannot sign in through the browser can send a KinetixSEO API key instead. Create one on the API tokens page, tick process:url and results:read, and send it as a header:

Authorization: Bearer <your KinetixSEO API key>

A key covers starting audits and reading every result. Content briefs, keyword research and llms.txt generations need the sign-in above.

Tools

Starting an audit, a brief, keyword research or an llms.txt spends credits from your KinetixSEO balance, the same as starting it on the site. Reading a result is free. The price is in each description, and the assistant sees the same text before it decides to call a tool.

KinetixSEO MCP tools and what each one does
ToolWhat it does
start_url_auditStart SEO audit. Start a KinetixSEO SEO and AI-visibility audit for one URL. Returns a job_id; poll get_url_audit with it until the audit is complete. Costs 1 credit per call from the caller's KinetixSEO credit balance.
get_url_auditGet SEO audit result. Fetch the status and, once complete, the full result of an audit started with start_url_audit. Free: spends no credits.
start_content_briefBuild content brief. Build a content brief for one of the caller's tracked keywords. Returns immediately; call get_content_brief for the brief once it is built. Rebuilding replaces the keyword's previous brief. Costs 0.31 credits per call from the caller's KinetixSEO credit balance.
get_content_briefGet content brief. Fetch the content brief for a tracked keyword once start_content_brief has finished building it. Free: spends no credits.
start_keyword_researchStart keyword research. Run keyword research from up to 10 seed keywords. Returns a research_id; poll get_keyword_research with it for the result. Costs 0.05 credits per call from the caller's KinetixSEO credit balance.

get_backlink_summaryGet backlink summary. Fetch the latest stored backlink summary for a domain (total backlinks, referring domains, domain rating). Returns has_data:false if no snapshot exists yet; it never triggers a new fetch. Free: spends no credits.
start_llms_txt_generationGenerate llms.txt (AI-summarized). Generate an AI-summarized llms.txt for a domain: crawls the site and summarizes each page. Returns a generation_id; poll get_llms_txt with it for the files. For a free, non-AI llms.txt use https://kinetixseo.com/tools/llms-txt-generator instead. Costs 0.04 credits per call from the caller's KinetixSEO credit balance.
get_llms_txtGet llms.txt result. Fetch the status and, once complete, the llms.txt and llms-full.txt content of a generation started with start_llms_txt_generation. Free: spends no credits.
get_geo_citation_statusGet AI visibility (GEO) status. Fetch AI visibility (GEO) status for a tracked keyword the caller owns: the training-memory named rate (how often models answering from memory name the site) with per-model detail, the retrieval-grounded citation checks, and the visibility ranking against competitors. Free: spends no credits.

What a connected app can do

A connected app acts as you: it sees your own audits, sites and results, never anyone else's, and it can spend your credits on the tools above. The approval screen says so before you agree. You see and disconnect every connected app on the API tokens page; the app loses access straight away.

Limits

  • Free plan: 10 tool-call requests per minute.
  • Solo plan: 30 tool-call requests per minute.
  • Growth plan: 60 tool-call requests per minute.
  • Scale plan: 90 tool-call requests per minute.
  • Pro plan: 120 tool-call requests per minute.
  • Everything else an assistant sends (connecting, listing the tools, keep-alive): 120 requests per minute.
  • Before you sign in, the limits count per IP address, at the Free plan's rate.

An audit or a research job takes longer than one tool call. The assistant gets a job ID back and asks for the result a little later; it does this on its own.

For developers and directories

  • Transport: Streamable HTTP, one endpoint, JSON-RPC.
  • Sign-in: OAuth 2.1 with PKCE and dynamic client registration, scope mcp:use. A call to an account tool without a token answers 401 with the protected resource metadata URL.
  • Server card with the full tool list: https://kinetixseo.com/.well-known/mcp/server-card.json
