How we track AI citations of our own prompts
Some of the figures in our articles come from KinetixSEO tracking its own site: we put the questions our buyers ask to several AI engines on a schedule and record which sources each answer cites. This page shows how that works, the figures it currently produces, and the newest individual observations behind them.

What is tracked
Our own prompts, nobody else's
Every observation comes from the prompts KinetixSEO tracks for its own site, kinetixseo.com. Customers' tracked prompts and their results are never used for these figures and never appear on this page.

Methodology
How the data is collected
One check is one tracked prompt put to one AI engine at one moment. We store the answer's verdict on whether kinetixseo.com was cited, and every source URL the answer cited, with the date and the engine.
A check whose collection failed (the engine errored, timed out, rate-limited us or returned something we could not read) is not an observation. It is left out of every figure and every list on this page, so a collection outage can never look like an engine choosing not to cite anyone.
How citations were read in this window
- From cited sources: Measured from the sources the AI answer actually linked to.
- Model self-report: The model was asked whether it mentioned your site. This is its own account, not an observation, and it can be wrong in both directions.
- From search result citations: Measured from the citations shown in the search engine's AI answer.
Figures are computed over the last 90 days of checks, and a figure is only published once it rests on at least 30 observations.

Limitations
What these figures do not tell you
- The prompts are our own: questions about SEO and AI-search tooling that kinetixseo.com wants to be cited for. They are not a random sample of what people ask AI engines, so the figures describe answers to these prompts, not AI answers in general.
- Our own prompt set is small next to everything people ask AI engines. Each figure states its own sample, and a figure below our minimum sample is not published at all.
- AI engines change how they search and cite from week to week, sometimes overnight. A figure describes the window it was measured in, not how an engine will behave next month.
- Only checks for kinetixseo.com's own tracked prompts are used. Customer tracking data never feeds these figures and is never shown here.
